The Outliers—A Jim Jarmusch Film Festival

The Outliers// Spring 2015
The Outliers is a project for a class called Integrated Communications—explore the process, purpose and necessity for developing fully integrated messaging across any medium. This class also has a “nickname” which is The Film Festival Class. We each choose one film director with several films of this director, and made a film festival in a location of our own choices.
The goal of this project is to study and understand the style of the film director, to find a commonality from each chosen films and come up with a thread, or concept for this film festival. We will create different materials and deliverables for this festival which will carries a consistent visual language.
The Film Director I chose was Jim Jarmusch, an American independent film director. The feature films for the festival were five of his most recent films: Dead Man, Ghost Dog, Broken Flowers, The Limits of Control, Only Lovers Left Alive. The title of the festival is “The Outliers”, which came from my understanding of the five feature films. The festival location I chose was in Detroit, a city that became an outlier itself and is coping with all kinds of situations.
Deliverables// Poster with a case, Festival Catalogue Book(click here for more about the book), DVD Set with a DVD catalogue, Tickets, Schedule, Soundtrack Set, Website, Festival Trailer, Outdoor advertisement, etc
